Orientation to Forte Data
This article describes the uses of the Forte Platform and data types you will work with.
The Forte Platform is designed to help Funders and Providers of Education collaborate to manage effective training programs. We make it simple to focus on Outcomes.
There are a few key data objects in the Forte Platform. Many objects can be navigated to on the left sidebar
- An Organization is a Funder or Provider of Education. Funders will only be able to see Providers, and Providers can only see Funders with whom they have a contract.
- A User is someone who works at an Organization and interacts with the Forte Platform.
- A Beneficiary is a student who will receive training from a Provider Organization, to be paid for by a Funder Organization.
- An Outcome is some result of training that is accomplished by the Beneficiary. Examples include starting training, graduating training, or securing employment after training. These can be customized.
- A Milestone is a specific instance of an Outcome for one Beneficiary. For example, "Graduating from training" might be an Outcome. If Student A graduates but Student B does not graduate, we can say one Milestone (A) was complete while one was incomplete (B).
- Evidence is data -- a document, image, note, etc. -- that serves as proof of the achievement of an Milestone. Evidence can be submitted by Providers or Funders and is approved or rejected by Funders. Providers and Funders can add comments directly.
- An Invoice is a bill or report that specifies a payment due from a Funder to a Provider for the achievement of Milestones.
- A Contract is an agreement between a Funder and a Provider to orchestrate a training program. It lists the quantity of Beneficiaries to be trained, logistical information about the program, and the Outcomes (and associated prices) for which Funder will Pay a Provider.
- A Project is a collection of Contracts that are group together for analysis. There are additional fields associated with a Project like expected total budget and target quantity of beneficiaries.
